NSS Camp of Dr. D. Y .Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune at Kanhegoan, Tal. Maval, Dist Pune
Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune has organized National Social Service Special Winter Camp at village Kanhe, Taluka. Maval, Pune. During this camp various social activities were carried out at Kanhe village. The Inauguration Function was conducted at Gram Panchayat office in the presence of Mrs. Rajashri Sadashiv Satkar, Sarpanch, Dr. N. S. Vyawahare, Principal of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Dr. D. S. Shirode, NSS Program officer, Gram panchayat members and 25 NSS volunteers. During these seven days camp of NSS, Initially Baseline survey of village and village history was done. Health checkup camp, Swatch Bharat Abhiyan,Tree Plantation alongwithRally and streetplay were performed and awareness programon swine flu, dengue was conducted.

In the health checkup camp, 169 people actively participated. In the camp, activities like Blood pressure checkup (43 persons), Haemoglobin checkup (22 persons),Eye checkup (21 persons),Blood sugar level Checkup (23 persons) and blood donation (17 persons) activities were conducted.The Inauguration of Tree plantation program was done by Gram Panchayat members. Total 30 plants of different species were planted at Gram Panchayat and society for the education of the crippled (Naigaon).
Under Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Acleanliness drive was conductedfor all streets and village premises. Similarly to create awareness amongst people, activities like various Street play and rally were conducted on various social issues like Women Empowerment, LekLaadki, Swine Flu, dengueand road safety.
In these seven Days Special Camp of NSS, NSS District Co-Ordinator Dr.(Mrs)Savita Kulkarni and NSS Division Co-ordinator Mrs. MinalBhosale interacted with 25 NSS volunteers.Similarly Dr.(Mrs). SmitaSadar Conducted a session on Women Empowerment and Dr.D.S.Shirodedelivered a seminar on career guidance. RajuMane,AkshadaLiman and DevendraGorletalked on different subjects like health care, personality development etc.
During all the above activities villagers participated actively in large number and presented good response. The entire NSS camp was successful under the guidance of NSS Program officer, Dr. D. S. Shirode, Mr. R. S. Karodi and student volunteers Pratiksha Kalamkar,Akshay Narawade,Pooja Nangare, Gajanan Londe, Dhananjay Kakde,Roopali Biradar,Purnima Singh and Pramod Waghmare.

NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
