Visit to Lokmanya Hospital, Nigdi, Pune
Lokmanya Hospital,a super-specialty hospital in Bone Joint & Spine Care in PCMC, accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) serving society for many years. As a part of MoU between Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi and Lokmanya Hospital, this visit was planned to familiarize with the working of different departments of hospital including Pharmacy and drug distribution system and disseminate it to pharmacy students.

As a part of MoU between Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi and Lokmanya Hospital, this visit was planned to familiarize with the working of different departments of hospital including Pharmacy and drug distribution system and disseminate it to pharmacy students.
The visit started by interaction with Dr. Siddharth Mathur, COO of Hospital.He welcomed all faculty members and briefed about working system of hospital and introduced to Mr. Amol Dapurkar, Manager, Pharmacy Department for further hospital round. Mr. Amol took all faculty to various departments of hospital starting from casualty where he explained importance and treatment, initiation protocol and so on. Further all faculty were taken to operation theater (OT), the gowning, sterility maintenance and standard working procedures were explained. Also, he mentioned that it is one of its kind hospital to start with the first robotic arm surgery of Orthopedic section in Pune. Further faculty visited to pharmacy department where he explained the inpatient and outpatient drug distribution process. Faculty also visited other departments like nursing station, wards, radiology department etc.
During the interaction with Dr. Mathur, faculty discussed various following aspects:
1. Participation of DYPCOP students and faculty in patient awareness camp.
2. Ongoing clinical research in hospital and possibility of involvement of faculty and students in the project.
3. Imparting training to students in pharmacy section as per the availability and need of Hospital.
4. Inviting faculty from Lokmanya Hospital for Guest lectures pertaining to various aspects of measures to be taken during trauma and accident cases.
Dr. Siddharth Mathur, welcomed the initiative taken by DYPCOP, Akurdi and gave a very positive response for the same. The hospital visit was concluded with vote of thanks presented by Dr. (Mrs.) S. P. Mahaparale followed by group-photo. In all, this hospital visit was benefiting to both the sides and turned out to be very fruitful.
