Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity into a medication able to be safely and effectively used by patients. It is the science of dosage form design. With all the necessary infrastructural facility and experienced faculty, department of pharmaceutics is actively engaged in the teaching and research of different subject areas of pharmaceutics like pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, physical pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy and drug delivery system.  

Research Interest:

Microsponge, Niosomes, Self Microemulsifying drug delivery system,Fast Dissolving tablets, Sustained release formulations,nanoparticles,  solubility enhancement, Preformulation studies,Physics of tablet, novel dosage forms.

Research publications: More than 93 publications in national and international peer reviewed journals.

Welcome to Department of Pharmaceutics. It consists of four spacious laboratories, one Aseptic room and two  instrument rooms. The Department consists of various sophisticated instruments like tablet compression machine, Lyophilizer, Hot melt extruder, Probe sonicator, Film former, Spheronizer, Fluidized bed Processor, Labomate Digital Microscope, Remi Cooling centrifuge, Dissolution apparatus, Disintegration test apparatus   Brookefield viscometer,R and D coater ,Laminar air flow, autoclave, etc. Departmental Library facility is available for the students.
The department have PG course in Pharmaceutics (M. Pharm.) and is actively engaged in the teaching and research of different subject areas of pharmaceutics like pharmaceutical technology, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, physical pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy and drug delivery system.  Various research activities are conducted in the department related to Microsponge, Niosomes, Self Microemulsifying drug delivery system, Fast Dissolving tablets, Sustained release formulations, nanoparticles, solubility enhancement, Preformulation studies, Physics of tablet, noel dosage forms. Total departmental research and review publication till date is 93 and  books published by the faculty are 08.
The Department of Pharmaceutics has research grant of Rs.815000/- +200000/- recently sanctioned by SPPU
 
 

About Dr. (Mrs.) Shilpa P. Chaudhari


Dr. (Mrs.) Shilpa P Chaudahri, born on 26th  March  1978,  completed her Graduation and Post graduation  from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s  Poona College of Pharmacy, Erandwane and has been awarded Doctoral Degree from North Maharastra University,Jalgaon.. She has total 20 years of teaching & 10 years of research experience. Published more than 80 Research /Review Articles in national and international journals and authored 05 Books .She is approved PG and Ph.D Guide by Savitribai Phule Pune, University, Pune. Guided more than 45 M.Pharm students,and Presently guiding 8 students and 5 Ph.D Students.The research areas of her interest are physics of tablet,Niosomes,polymeric micelles,Self Microemulsifying drug delivery System,Pulsatile drug deliversy system,microsponges,nanoparticles, solubility enhancementand fast dissolving  and sustained release drug delivery.She has also participated and presented papers in national and international conferences in various Institutes/Universities in India. Apart from academic activities, she is involved in other aspects of development of department.She is a life member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI).She has received Twice Best Research paper Award in Pharmaceutics by Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in 14th APTI Annual National Convention 2009, Jodhpur, on October 3rd and 4th 2009 and in 19 th APTI Annual National Convention 2014, Pune, on 28th to 30th November 2014.She has completed two BCUD research projects by SPPU worth of 2 and 2.2 lacs and one MODROB grant  of 14 lacs by AICTE.
The department is ruthlessly moving towards the achieving the mission of providing academic excellence and research aura through innovative teaching and learning practices adopted by the department to meet the ultimate aim of developing the pharmacist who will  not only survive in this competitive world but also contribute to healthcare system.
