Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan- NSS

Mutha, one of the five major rivers that originate in Pune district, has lost it's lustre due to rising water pollution and a lack of government conservation initiatives. However, thanks to the work of a group of volunteers who are cleaning up the river's banks and rehabilitating the ecosystem, certain portions of the river are reviving.
Similarly, a golden effort was taken by WE Foundation alongwith active involvement of National Service Scheme (NSS Unit: A-063) volunteers from Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune under the name “My River My Valentine” - a river cleanliness drive. This was second activity under the initiative "SWACHHA PUNE SWASTHA PUNE" and under the theme - "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav".
The agenda of the activity was conducting a cleanliness drive at different rivers/Ghats in Pune. In total 11 ghats connected to Mutha were cleaned by volunteers of more than 30 different colleges, amd more than 20 students from Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune showed an enthusiastic participation in the activity. Behind the success of "My River My Valentine", the efforts and proper coordination was made by NSS volunteers - Aditya Sarode and Shreya Mishra under the guidance of Mr. Sandip Kshirsagar, NSS Program Officer and Dr. N.
